Key points

  • Cuts a chase up to 65 mm deep, ready for conduit and cable
  • Brushless motor runs cooler and draws less current than a brushed equivalent
  • Guide roller and depth screws hold the cut parallel to the wall face
  • Three colour variants dispatched at random
  • Discs are not included, so the right grade for the wall material can be chosen
  • Common on kitchen and bathroom refits where services have to be buried without pulling the room apart

Product detail

Hand-held wall chaser for cutting straight chases into brick, block and concrete walls to bury conduit, cable and pipework. The brushless motor drives the discs through the wall and cuts a channel up to 65 mm deep, so the conduit can be dropped in and plastered over rather than chased out with a breaker and a bolster. A guide roller and the depth-setting screws on the front of the housing keep the cut parallel to the wall face and hold the depth steady along the run. The machine is supplied in black and yellow, in three colour variants that are dispatched at random, and the cutting discs are not included, so the right disc for the wall material can be selected separately. Suited to electrical and plumbing installers and to refurbishment work. Working alone, a tradesman sets the depth and cuts a long run along the wall at a steady pace without a helper. Bought by electricians chasing a handful of walls per refit, where a guided cut leaves a clean channel instead of a ragged one from a chase bit. Because the depth stops are set on the machine before the first pass, the same chase can be cut on both sides of a room without stopping to measure each run, which keeps socket boxes and conduit sitting flush once the plaster goes back. For a hire fleet, supplying the machine without discs also means it leaves the counter with the grade the customer's wall actually needs, rather than a fixed disc that suits only one material.
