Temperature is set and shown digitally rather than by a rotary guess dial, which matters when the same setting has to be reproduced on a second joint or a second shift. Overheat protection cuts the element if the gun is left running against a surface, while a safety lock and a separate battery release prevent accidental starts in a tool bag. The soft overmoulded handle keeps the hand steady during fine work, and being cordless it reaches into cabinets, vehicles and ceiling voids.
