Pair of through-tang screwdrivers built for fasteners that will not shift with ordinary hand pressure. The blade runs right through the handle and out of the back, so the end of the handle can be struck with a mallet while the tip is held in the screw slot, which breaks the grip of a tight or seized screw without the blade twisting out. One driver carries a Phillips tip and the other a slotted tip, both at 6.3 x 100 mm, with overall length 205 mm, exposed shaft 95 mm and shaft diameter 6.3 mm. The tips are magnetic, so steel screws stay on the blade when the driver is offered up one-handed. Handles are black fluted grips with a translucent red core and a hex bolster at the neck for a spanner when extra leverage is needed. Plant fitters carry the pair in the service van for machines that have to be split on site, away from the workshop. Chosen by mechanics working on older machinery, where slotted and Phillips fasteners are seized and an ordinary driver would cam out of the head. Both drivers share the same blade size and handle pattern, so a fitter can strike one while the other is still sitting in the slot on a pair of fasteners that have to come out together. Packed as a pair rather than sold singly, the set covers the two head types found on the same machine, so one trip to the panel is usually enough.
