Pneumatic straight-line sander with a rectangular platen, made for finishing flat work that an orbital sander would leave swirl marked. The pad travels back and forth through a 3 mm orbit, cutting in one direction so the scratch pattern follows the grain on timber and stays flat across paint preparation, primer flattening, metal cleaning and rust removal. Free speed is 12000 rpm with an air consumption of 400 litres per minute at a working pressure of 6.2 kgf per square centimetre, a combination most workshop compressors will hold through a long session. At 0.77 kg the tool can be steered with one hand along a rail, post or panel edge, and the narrow platen reaches into corners and recesses that a round pad cannot touch. The platen measures 28.3 by 97.5 mm, standard abrasive sheets fit it, and air enters through a quick coupler at the base of the handle.
