The 1221B is a cordless tile vibrator for laying large format floor and wall tiles with fewer hollow spots under the surface. A rubber suction plate is pressed onto the face of the tile and the motor vibrates the whole tile, working the adhesive into a continuous bed and driving trapped air out from under it before the mortar sets. Because the tool runs on an interchangeable battery pack instead of a lead, it can be carried across a large floor without dragging cable through wet adhesive, and the body takes the red and yellow pack formats shown. The rubber pad protects polished porcelain and glazed surfaces from marking while it works. It suits tilers setting 600 mm and larger tiles, stone-look porcelain and thin large panels, where tapping by hand with a mallet is slow and gives an uneven bed from one tile to the next. A tiler laying large format tiles alone can bed each one without a mallet, and the suction plate lifts a tile again if the bed needs topping up.
