Handheld pneumatic strapping tool that tensions, seals and cuts PET plastic strap in one air-powered cycle, for pallets, crates and cartons that are too large or too heavy to strap with a manual tensioner. Compressed air supplies the tension, so a pallet of bricks or a machine crate can be strapped to the same tension all day without the operator pulling strap by hand, and the joint is fused rather than held by a metal clip. The body is a cast alloy housing measuring 278.5 x 149.5 x 173 mm with a carrying handle on top, fitted with a quick coupler for a shop air hose. The mechanism is built around PET strap of around 5 mm thickness, and a built-in silencer keeps exhaust noise down in a warehouse. Rated for up to 100,000 strapping cycles. Despatch staff can strap a load wherever the pallet stands, which saves moving heavy crates to a fixed strapping station. A new starter can learn the cycle in a short session, so an extra pair of hands is productive at the bay on a busy shift. Warehouses strap pallets with a pneumatic tensioner because hand tools will not pull consistent tension across a shift; the alloy body takes the knocks of a loading bay, and the same tool tensions, seals and cuts. Because the whole cycle happens at the tool, a crate is strapped where it was packed rather than carried to a fixed station, which matters when the load is already on a pallet and cannot be lifted again. The joint is fused rather than clipped, so there is no loose metal seal on the pack to catch on shrink wrap, a carton edge or a fork truck tine.
